Trio con Brio Copenhagen, formed by the Korean sisters Soo-Jin Hong and Soo-Kyung Hong and the Danish pianist Jens Elvekjaer, drew attention by the sensational success at the ARD-competition in Munich. The trio belongs since its formation in Vienna 1999 to the most exciting young piano trios performing today. Critics especially praise the trio for “sparkling joy of life”, “magic dialogue” and the virtuoso technique of the ensemble.

In September 2005 the Trio con Brio Copenhagen received the prestigious Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award in USA. The award includes a CD-recording and an extensive tour of 20 major United States venues including Carnegie Hall, New York.

In 2006/7 the trio will go on several USA/Canada tours including a cd-recording and 25 concerts a.o. in New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Detroit, Jacksonville and Palm Beach. Furthermore tours in Germany with concerts a.o. in HR Sendesaal Frankfurt, NDR Hamburg, Meistersingerhalle Nürnberg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and Bayreuth and a tour in Holland with concerts in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Maastricht and concerts at Newbury Festival, Lake Side Festival and Leamington Festival, England, at Bergen Festspil and Kristiansand Festival, Norway, at Båstad Festival, Sweden, in Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen and in major cities in Denmark are scheduled.

In 2007, the trio will perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in Radio Concert Hall Copenhagen, Denmark, with the Korean Prime Philharmonic Orchestra in Seoul Arts Center and Gunpo Culture Center, Korea and with the South Jutlands Symphony Orchestra in Sønderborg, Denmark and Flensburg, Germany. 
Highlights of past years´ performances are Konzerthaus Berlin, Herkulessaal Munich, Max-Josephs-Saal der Residenz Munich, Kölner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Vienna, Seoul Arts Centre, Bunka Kaikan, Tokyo, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Musikhalle Hamburg, Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Germany, Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria, Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, Teatro Verdi Trieste, Italy and Teatro Olimpico Vicenza.

In summer 2003, Trio con Brio Copenhagen performed all Beethoven piano trios in a cycle of three concerts in Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen with great success.
The ensemble was ”Ensemble in Residence” in the Round Tower in Copenhagen - 5 sold-out concerts in 2005 broadcasted on the Danish Radio and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Trio con Brio Copenhagen won top prizes in many of the most prestigious international competitions – ARD München, 1. prize Premio Vittorio Gui Firenze, 1. prize Trondheim Chamber Music Competition, 1. prize Danish Radio Competition Copenhagen. In 2004 Trio con Brio Copenhagen has been awarded the prestigious ”Allianz-Preis” given for the best ensemble in Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2003.

The ensemble received excellent musical guidance by Alban Berg Quartet and Ferenc Rados in Cologne and Budapest and studied in Vienna, Salzburg, Cologne, Aarhus and Copenhagen.
Trio con Brio Copenhagen has performed with Tivoli´s Symphoy Orchestra, Copenhagen, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Syrinx, Frankce with Christian Mandeal and Günter Neuhold. Trio con Brio Copenhagen has broadcasted for Danish Radio, Korean Broadcasting Systems, ARD, NDR, Deutschland Radio Berlin, NRK, SR, Hessischer Rundfunk, RAI and BBC.
The two string players are performing on an Amati cello and an Andrea Guarneri violin and Jens Elvekjaer has recently been appointed the first Danish Steinway Artist.

Trio con Brio Copenhagen teaches regularly at masterclasses and courses a.o. Trondheim International Chamber Music Festival, at the Music Academy in Kristiansand, Norway, at the Kuhmo Festival in Finland and in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Trio con Brio Copenhagen´s first cd with works of Ravel, Bloch and Dvorak will be released on the American label Azica in autumn 2006!
